Bexar County was among the first communities to petition the Texas Transportation Commission for the creation of a local regional mobility authority (RMA). The Legislature passed the enabling legislation in 2001.

The Alamo Regional Mobility Authority (Alamo RMA) was created in 2004. It’s principal responsibility is to fast-track the construction of additional lanes on congested roadways. For further information about the Alamo RMA and proposed toll express lanes in Bexar County, please see: AlamoRMA
